Launch of IT Student AccessAbility Network!
Do you have a disability? Neurodiversity? Chronic illness? Mental health… stuff? If you have experienced, or are experiencing any of these and are an IT student, you're invited to our in-person coffee catch ups and hybrid Zoom study sessions.
Undergrad and graduate students are both welcome. If you would like to meet like-minded (and bodied) peers we would love to see you there.
The Faculty of IT is establishing a community network for and with IT students with disabilities. We’re starting small with these social events, but we intend to grow into a community where we can share tips, form connections and make our university life easier.
We won’t ask for a diagnosis but if there’s anything we can do to accommodate you, please contact El or Mat via the emails below. If you feel shy, bring a friend (we won’t ask for their diagnosis either).
Please RSVP by emailing either Mat or El if you are able for either event, but you can also just show up - no judgement.
Coffee Catch Up
A low pressure and casual catch up, could even be tea, or water!
When:Fortnightly Tuesdays starting 17th August (week 4)
Time:10am - 11am, but you can stay longer if you wish
Where:Artichoke and Whitebate, Ground Floor, Campus Centre (near health services and the campus pharmacy)
Study Sessions
Grab some study material you want to work on and log on. We can’t help with assignments but can discuss anything about IT. These sessions are designed to help you have some study buddies and have discussions if you would like. We’ll get feedback from attendees in the early weeks to see what setup works best but we will be pretty flexible.
When:Weekly Tuesdays starting 19th August (week 4)
Time - Weeks 4 and 5: 12pm - 1pm
Time - Weeks 6 - 12: 11:30am - 1pm

In person - Matheson Library, room G14 (teaching room 3)
Online via Zoom
Finally, if you would be interested in being consulted on how the network could develop, please let us know - we’re always looking for more input.
This usually takes the form of a 60 minute interview or focus group, but phone, email and online chat are also available.
